Examination Policies and Malpractices

Examination Guidelines and Conduct

Arrival and Seating

1. Arrival Time: All candidates are advised to arrive at the Examinations Hall at least 30 minutes before the start of the examinations.

2. Seating Arrangement: All candidates are expected to identify their respective sitting places and be seated 20 minutes before the start of the examinations. Candidates who are unable to locate their seats should report to the chief invigilator(s) for assistance.

3. Identification Documents: Candidates are expected to produce a hard copy of the "Authority to Sit" and students Identity Card or any valid National Identity Card at the Examinations Hall.

Examination Hall Rules

4. Early Departure: Candidates are not permitted to leave the Examinations Hall until 5 minutes before close of the examination. Those who intend to leave before this time, should seek permission from the invigilators before doing so. Candidates are supposed to submit their answer booklet(s) to the invigilators before leaving the Examinations Hall.

5. Prohibited Materials: Candidates are advised not to enter the Examinations Hall with foreign materials. Foreign material found on a candidate during the Examinations, will be seized by the invigilator and the culprit will be made to fill out an Examination Malpractice Interrogation Form. Culprit(s) will be subject and / or asked to attend disciplinary proceedings for sanction to be pronounced on the candidate.

Permitted Materials

Materials permitted to be sent to the Examinations Hall include blue or black ball pen, ruler, non-programmable calculator.

Prohibited Items

The following gadgets / accessories would not be allowed into the Examinations Hall:

  • Phones
  • Digital / Smart watches
  • Tablets
  • AirPods/ Hands free

Examination Malpractice Policy

The Institute maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards examination malpractice. Any candidate found engaging in malpractice will face disciplinary action, which may include:

  • Confiscation of examination materials
  • Immediate expulsion from the examination hall
  • Cancellation of examination results
  • Suspension from future examinations
  • Permanent disqualification from CITG programmes in severe cases

Forms of Examination Malpractice include but are not limited to:

  • Possession of unauthorized materials or devices
  • Communication with other candidates during the examination
  • Copying from another candidate's work
  • Bringing pre-written notes or materials into the examination hall
  • Impersonation or allowing another person to sit the examination on one's behalf
  • Attempting to bribe or influence invigilators
  • Disruptive behavior or failure to follow invigilator instructions

Candidate Responsibilities

All candidates are expected to:

  • Familiarize themselves with these guidelines before the examination date
  • Arrive well-prepared with only permitted materials
  • Follow all instructions given by invigilators promptly and respectfully
  • Maintain silence and focus throughout the examination
  • Report any suspicious activity to the invigilators immediately
  • Ensure they understand the consequences of examination malpractice

Appeals and Complaints

Candidates who wish to lodge complaints about examination conditions or procedures should do so in writing to the Institute within 48 hours of the examination. All appeals will be investigated thoroughly and addressed according to CITG regulations.
