About CITG Membership
The Chartered Institute of Taxation, Ghana (CITG) is a professional body made up of students and members who contribute to the growth and development of the taxation profession in Ghana. Membership of the Institute is earned through a structured process that ensures high professional standards and competence.
Pathway to Membership
Students who complete Final Level 2 of the CITG Professional Programme become eligible for admission as members of the Institute. The process of becoming a member includes:
- Graduation from the Institute,
- Completion of at least one year of relevant tax practice, and
- Participation in the official Induction and Admission Ceremony.
Membership Application Requirements
To apply for membership, candidates must complete the prescribed membership form and provide the following information:
- Full name and current residential address,
- Details of current and previous employers,
- Record of practical experience,
- Names and addresses of referees (who must be members in good standing), and
- Attestation from at least two members in good standing.
In addition, referees will be required to submit a confidential report, which, together with the application and supporting documents, will be considered by the Admissions Committee before membership is granted.
Relevant Professional Experience
Applicants must demonstrate professional experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Practice in a recognized tax or auditing firm,
- Employment under a qualified tax professional in the industry, or
- Teaching taxation or a related subject at a recognized tertiary institution.
